I am trying to setup something like:

a.site.com b.site.com c.site.com

Now, I want the data in a.site.com to be completely independent of b.site.com. Basically, I want to be able to provide FTP access for a.site.com to client A and b.site.com to client B. If a client is malicious, then he should only be able to access his own site and should not be able to interfere with b.site.com.

How do I achieve this? I know it is possibly related to settings in Apache but am not sure. Also, how do I programmatically create these subdomains?

The problem is that it still checks the server if the file has been modified and then returns 304 Not Modified. I want it to use cache by default i.e. the local browser cache and not make a round trip to the server at all.

Any suggestions?

I'm wondering if there is any online service which keeps incremental backups from a server incrementally.

I'm looking at Mozy etc. but I'm not sure if they offer this service.

I basically need a backup service for RackSpace Cloud sites. I do not want to use PHP etc. to push the backups. I would like the service to auto-pull files etc. Something like subscribe and forget in terms of service.

Am not entirely sure how to do this due to my lack of shell knowledge.

Can you please assist me to delete old backups so that it only keeps:

1. Last 3 days
2. One backup each from last 3 weeks
3. One backup each for last 3 months

I got a CISCO 1800 router. I want to allow a particular domain only. Its clustered so I dont know what the IP address is.

Here is what I need. In cisco routers, I can set the ACL to allow a particular IP. I am setting this up for a corporate using this guide:

For IPs I set something like:

access-list acl_permit permit ip 192.168.32.0 0.0.7.255

However, for some sites which I do not want to block, I need to allow particular domains. So I dont want to enter the IP address in the command. How do I go about doing that? Any ideas?

I am trying to get all the files in a particular folder to force download:

I created a .htaccess file but this does not work

AddHandler cgi-script .php .pl .py .jsp .asp .htm .shtml .sh .cgi 
Options -ExecCGI

Basically, I don't want any script or anything to execute. I want everything to download from that folder.

Any suggestions?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question. But I have a router which connects to the internet. Now I have a switch connected to this router. I added a lot more computers so I added another switch and connected it to the first switch using a cross-over cable.

As soon as I connect it to the first switch, my lights in first switch start blinking like crazy and my entire network simply stops working. The minute I remove the second switch's wire, its all fine again.

What could be the problem?

I have a dedicated server on which I run MySQL + Apache. I run a chat script which polls every 3 seconds. Now last night my MySQL server died due to the load. Am wondering how to maximize my MySQL threads as well as Apache threads.

Can someone point me to URLs which can help me achieve the same?
