I've been tasked with trying to make the 6000 Pro Microtower work with 3/4 monitors. The machine itself has VGA and DisplayPort outputs from the motherboard. I've installed a Radeon 4500 HD Video card, which has the ability to power 2 displays. I was thinking with the on-board outputs, I should be able to at least power an additional 1-2. I've tried different on-board drivers, but no luck.
Has anyone tried something like this with any of the HP machines?
I was looking into the logs of my server 2008 jobs, and I notice that there are 2-3 days over the last month that WBADMIN has kicked off a full backup, rather than the incremental backups that it is supposed to do.
What criteria is WBADMIN looking for to kick off a full backup, even if we have the "always perform incremental backups" option checked?

I have a 3 site network A, B, and C. Each site has its own DC, that replicates to the others. Each site also has a local NAS (Thecus) device. The NAS devices should be accessible from every other site.
I'm having an issue where the NAS device at site A cannot be reached from A's DC, but every other machine everywhere else(and with any login account) can reach the shares.
From site A's DC, we can ping that NAS device and we can browse to the admin page.
My thought, is there must be some type of group policy restricting that machine from accessing that NAS device. I say the machine, because the login account can access it from the same site, on different machines, and from other sites as well. If we use another login on site A's DC, we still cannot browse to the share.
Where is this type of restriction defined in group policy? I haven't had a whole lot of experience with group policy.

I guess I forgot about an error we had received in the event logs. It's error 5722: "The session setup from the computer failed to authenticate. The name of the account referenced in the security database is . The following error occurred: Access is Denied.
Update This was resolved by applying a SMB patch for Windows Server 2008
I have a few servers running Windows Server Standard SP2, all of which are running windows server backup. It runs daily, and I would like to receive a notification that the backups have completed successfully/Failed.
I see there is another question(162889) which has not been answered. I use Kaseya, and have the ability to gather some data on the machine and process that into an email Kaseya can send out.
What I'm having problems with is finding the correct log, and converting the *.etl file into something readable.
I've used different mixes of tracerpt to try and get what I want, but I haven't had a readable output. The log files I'm pulling from are located in %windir%\logs\windowsserverbackup\ via MS KB Article
Has anyone had any success with this?

With Shoretel reports, the report that generates how long someone is on the phone (actively talking on the phone), if they are listed as "off hook", like right before you dial a number, does that still show up as being on a call?
I'm currently taking care of backups for about 100 clients, and I'm really getting hammered with VSS issues. I've tried many different things, re-regsitering the VSS Dlls, reboots, patches, etc.
What I want to know: Where can I find some detailed, technical information about VSS.
I've got this server, and we've been having VSS issues for quite awhile. We've tried every form of re-registering the VSS drivers we can think of.
Has anyone ran into a situation like this before? We're thinking the next step, if possible, is a complete reinstall of the VSS.

Coming into work today, I've found we have a few different computers (different companies/networks/OS versions - all windows based) that are all having the same issue.
1) Network NIC is not able to be viewed from network connections. If you refresh, its saying the service is not started. Services state the service is started and running.
2) USB devices are not recognized when plugged in, scan for hardware changes, etc.
We have managed AV, that is kept up to date, and a managed patch policy that has all these machines at the most recent patch.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced these same symptoms, and what they have done to resolve them.
Updates:
11:23 AM - The issues are spreading, and things are progressively getting worse. Services are starting to shut down (windows installer, etc), ports are getting blocked. Rebooting into safe mode (w/ networking) still has these issues.
Patches: No patches went through last night.
Managed AV (McAfee): Nothing new from this point. This was un-installed and we still had the issues. No policy changes as far as blocking network access or other have been enabled.
Scanning: We've scanned with malwarebytes, the MS installer service shutdown before we could install any other software. Nothing came up in the scan.
Connections: Netstat showed no outgoing connections to any other machines, other than what was expected.
We are working remotely on a site that is 150 miles away. We have some IT staff on site, but so far nothing. What a great Thursday. :)
What I'm looking for, is info on what is contained in the server 2008 system state backup. It is incredibly large (10+ G), and annoying to backup remotely. is there a way to take a full system state, and then do like a weekly incremental?
I know the wbadmin tool, but its options are limited.
I'm also looking for the option to remove the 2nd or 3rd oldest backup.

1) How does everyone deal with backing up the system state for server 2008? What is your procedure?
2) We deal with over 100 separate networks, all with different configurations (hardware, OS, network, etc) and some servers have additional physical drives, and some do not. If what Jim said/linked is correct, and it has to be a local drive to avoid backing up the 10G of system state, are there any ways around this? I've heard you can edit the registry and allow wbadmin to backup the system state to the same drive, but I don't want that to be our workaround. Also, if it doesn't allow the incremental backup to a USB drive, I really don't want every system state to be appx 10G, and then try and uploading that offsite every time.

I'm currently taking over for someone who was in charge of backing up over 250 servers on different platforms, until we hire a replacement. The main question I have is:
If we use a backup software, such as Symantec backup exec, does this perform the correct backup for MSSQL Server?
I was listening to Stack Overflow Podcast, and I heard them talk about you cannot just backup the SQL data files, but you also need the transaction log? So, if we just backup the whole machine, would we be able to recover it correctly, since we would be backing up the data file and the log?

I currently have a user that is forced to watch many different training videos and/or audio courses (CD, flash, DVD, etc). Once in a while their audio will stop working. I stop over and the system will give me this error: "There are no active mixer devices available."
I take a quick look Add hardware devices, and it shows the multimedia controller uninstalled, and reloading the software is a pain. The easiest solution, is of course to reboot, and problem solved. This causes the user much frustration though. I have tried many re-images, and software re-installs, but it eventually keeps happening. Is there any shorter way, other than a reboot, to reload an audio cards drivers when this happens?
