When my rackspace hyper v server is bought online, I have a scheduled task that is set to run on startup to get the internal ip address and make use of it.
It seems though that the internal ip address of the server changes after I bring the image back online but after startup, as if maybe the machine has an ip configured, then some other event changes it.
Can anyone suggest an event that I can use to get this value a a later step, after the internal ip address has been finalised?
We have a NANT script that uses msbuild to compile our visual studio solutions and deploys the .dlls into the GAC.
This works well on our integration/test servers as part of continuous integration, cruise control uses the NANT scripts and every time the dlls are put into the GAC without problem.
On our local development machines, where we use subversion/vs.net etc. for development, frequently certain dlls do not make it to the GAC when we run the build.
We think we have narrowed this down to visual studio and/or a plug in locking the GAC or the dlls for some reason. Strangely if we run the build a second time all the dlls make it to the GAC.
We have added various iisreset's to the NANT script in the hope of releasing the lock but to no avail.
Can anyone suggest a good approach to attack this problem?

We have had to rename the machine name of a server that was running sql server and SharePoint MOSS. It seems to have broken both, is there a way to resolve this situation?

I'm running Windows Sharepoint Services on server 2008. It's not connected to an AD so I'm using local users on the machine.
When inside SharePoint and browsing for users I see all users, can I restrict this so that a given user sees only users in a given group?

I am running Windows SharePoint Services on a Hyper V server provided by my ISP. My WSS install is standalone and using SQL Express. When I go to add users to the site collection I see all users on the current Active Directory, including other customers of the ISP - obviously not what I want.
I'd like to be able to add local windows users to the machine and provide those users access to the WSS sites, can I do this?

I'm working on a pretty standard MOSS virtual development environment. I have MOSS, sql 2005 and the machine is also the Domain Controller.
I'm now doing some work with Reporting Services (SSRS) and integrating it with MOSS.
I therefore installed SP2 to give me the option in SSRS of SharePoint integrated mode. I also installed the SSRS Add-In for SharePoint.
Then in SSRS I chose to create a new database so that I could tell it to use SharePoint integrated mode and called it reportservermoss, as reportserver had previously been used. I created this and chose all the defaults with integrated authentication.
I then began to configure the SharePoint side of things in Central Administration. Under Grant Database Access I tried to enter the local admin account, this failed until I found this post pointing out a bug, so I changed the servername to it's IP Address and it allowed me to continue.
So I think all is fine. I choose Set Server Defaults in Central Admin and get a large page of html/nonsense beginning:
An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode.
There's nothing in the logs.
