I have a department looking to use Project Web App only within their group. It looks as though I can make a "Project Site" subsite within their Team's SharePoint site, but this is not allowing connectivity from the MS Project desktop client.

I have granted the affected user "Full Control" of the subsite.

If I create a new "Project Web App" SharePoint site, which can be connected to by the desktop client.

It seems that there's a difference between the "Project Web App" SharePoint site template, and the subsite "Project Site" template.

How can I apply the "Project Web App" template to a Subsite, and use it with the Project desktop client?

I am trying to create a proxy at a URL on my "master" site to a remote site, "east", but I get stuck in a redirection loop. This isn't the behaviour I was expecting - I understood ProxyPass would rewrite the content to the URL, but I think it's acting as if it's redirecting to the "master" host.

The configuration file applied is pretty straightforward:

The Apache logs on east are showing cURL's requests.

If I browse http://east.domain.com/prod_east I get redirected to an application's login page (which I expect). Examining that with cURL, I see:

The last Location: entry has me wondering: It's telling the client to redirect to /prod_east/, but I expect that to be requested from east.domain.com because of the ProxyPass rules.

The Proxy module is enabled, as is the rewrite module.

Any help? I'm clearly not understanding something here...

I'm running into some issues deploying both Office 365 ProPlus (Monthly) and Project 2019 Volume Licensed to workstations. Independently, each software package installs without error, but when I install ProPlus, THEN Project 2019, I get a "Blocking Application: Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus en-us" fatal error.

Reading https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/deployoffice/install-different-office-visio-and-project-versions-on-the-same-computer, I find that I should be able to do this, since this is a supported scenario. Office 365 Monthly is at version 1809, which is greater than the first version recognized at 2019 (version 1808).

However, I run into this additional note: "For Office 365 and Office 2019 products, all products installed on the computer must be using the same update channel". From https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/deployoffice/office2019/update#update-channel-for-office-2019, I read "“PerpetualVL2019” is the only supported update channel for Office Professional Plus 2019 and Office Standard 2019. It's also the default update channel for volume licensed versions of Project 2019 and Visio 2019"

If I change the deployment channel for Project to "Monthly" (from PerpetualVL2019), isn't this just the same as if I were using "Project Online Professional" (the Office 365 flavour of Project), and not volume licensed? This scenario allows the software to be installed, but I'm not sure where it's at license-wise.

Any help, direction, current experience with deploying Office 365 ProPlus and some Volume Licensed 2019 components is appreciated.

I am trying to alias my print server to \\printserver. The actual name of the server is \\fileserver1 and/or \\fileserver2. The idea is that I can switch the CNAME between each real server as required.

I am able to connect to a printer on \\printserver\Printer Name, however \\printserver.fqdn.com\Printer Name gives me an error "Operation could not be completed (error 0x0..0709). Double check the printer name and make sure that the printer is connected to the network.".

I am able to access the printers on each server directly, either using the netbios name for FQDN name. The issue only arises when using the FQDN CNAME.

The DnsOnWire registry key has been applied (see https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2546625/en-us).

The registry change to LanmanServer has also been applied (see https://support.microsoft.com/kb/281308 as it applies to Server 2003).

I have applied the setspn commands as defined on http://www.md3v.com/enable-windows-server-smb-2-0-alias-cname%29

I can browse to \\printserver.fqdn.com and see the printers and shares.

All hosts are on a flat network, and are all behind a firewall... I don't have any reasons to suspect any interference from there.

Any help, direction, suggestions are all appreciated.

We are looking to migrate off our existing server 2003 sp2 machine, running RIS (which I know is WDS as of Server 2003 Sp2, but to be clear..) with a bunch of legacy RiSETUP images to a Server 2008 r2 box.

Because the change in architecture (x86 to x64), and a limitation of the Server 2008 upgrade path that won't allow mixed-mode WDS services to be upgraded, I am forced to look at running Server 2003 for RIS and Server 2008 R2 for WDS for Windows 7 on the same network.

The problem I'm facing is how to deal with both PXE services at the same time? I'd still like the existing RIS server to be available for production use, but start working on WDS for deploying Windows 7.

Is there a way to have a sort of PXE "chooser" ? Or some other mechanism to be able to select which server the client should download the boot image from?

I am trying to export a list of some user information from Active Directory 2003 using Powershell.

So far, I'm able to display the specific list of properties using something like this:

However, if I try to pipe the output to export-csv, instead of format-table, I get all the properties of each domain object.

If I do something like the following:

I get a correct number of rows with no data, except some identifier (which makes sense - since the object isn't being passed into export-csv, just a line of text).

How can I export the specific fields to a file?

I am using Quest's ActiveDirectory powershell CMDLETs (http://www.quest.com/powershell/activeroles-server.aspx) to get the data from AD.

I've come up against a weird display issue that I can't seem to find any "fix" for.

When I first boot up my computer, everything behaves normally. If I start to use VMWare Player and/or Remote Desktop, my desktop starts having some odd video issues. The frames for some windows aren't drawn at all, if I move windows around rapidly, the area under where the window used to be isn't cleared (still shows artifacts of the content of the window), etc. In some cases, the minimize / restore / maximize buttons aren't drawn (but are click-able if you can guess where they are).

I've tried the usual stuff - current drivers all around, using a single monitor, etc.. none of it seems to have any bearing.

If I try to disable hardware acceleration, it tends to crash the computer.

As I said earlier, it's running Windows XP, dual monitors, an NVidia en8400GS video card, asus p7p55d motherboard. Not sure what other pertinent details are needed.

I would appreciate any help or suggestions!

We've got the application at work that just sits and does a whole bunch of iterative processing on some data files to perform some simulations. This is done by an "old" Win32 application that isn't multi-processor aware, so new(ish) computers and workstations are mostly sitting idle running this application.

However, since it's installed by a typical Windows Install Shield installer, I can't seem to install and run multiple copies of the application.

The work can be split up manually before processing, enabling the work to be distributed across multiple machines, but we still can't take advantage of multiple core CPUs. The results can be joined back together after processing to make a complete simulation.

Is there a product out there that would let me "compartmentalize" an installation (or 4) so I can take advantage of a multi-core CPU? I had thought of using MS Softgrid, but I believe that still depends on a remote server to do the heavy lifting (though please correct me if I'm wrong).

Furthermore, is there a way I can distribute the workload off the one machine? So an input could be split into 50 chunks, handed out to 50 machines, and worked on?

All without really changing the initial application?

In a perfect world, I'd get the application to take advantage of a DesktopGrid (BOINC), but like most "mission critical corporate applications", the need is there, but the money is not.
