I'm a DNS noob, so here's a question:

Can a server have multiple reverse DNS entries? Or does one IP address just resolve to one DNS name?

Here is why I need this:

I have a number of sites hosted on a server, as well as the mail for a number of domains. From what I can tell, the mail servers without the reverse dns entries are treated as spam servers by some mail programs. So it seems like I need to add an entry for them. Or can each server only run mail for one domain?

Note - I just have one IP address that runs all these domains.

I wondered if anyone can suggest a free tool that will allow me to connect to my home development machine, which is behind a NAT'ed firewall owned by my ISP through a server that I lease that is on the public internet.

That is, right now I can't ping my home machine at all, because it's double-NAT'ed, so no matter how many holes I poke in my home firewall, I can't get to it.

I have a server in a datacenter that I could run some sort of "proxy" on, if there was a tool I could install on my home machine that would ping the server occasionally and check for a request to open a channel or something...

Obviously it can be done, since tools like GotoMyPC and Fog Creek's Copilot can do this. I'm just looking for a free alternative.

That way, I could connect to my home dev machine if I'm at a coffee shop somewhere and want to get to files from my laptop.

My client recently changed their network policy so now all WIFI routers are disallowed from the network. They said they would be running some scans and that they would be able to find "rogue" WIFI routers on the network.

How would they be able to detect these WIFI routers and access points? They are located remotely to the 100+ branches/corporate offices, so it's definitely a network tool and they're not walking around with WIFI detectors or anything like that.

Just curious, as I thought it was interesting.

I'm having a problem where for some reason, Remote Desktop (RDP) continually gets disabled on a Win2003 server. Our networking team is not doing this, so as far as I know it is not a security script that is running, etc.

In any case, I am able however to access the remote registry, since I am an administrator on the site. My question is, what registry key do I need to change in order to re-enable remote desktop?

I'm using UltraVNC on my Vista machine, and it's giving me very poor performance, even over a 300 mbs network. It seems to be doing screen polling.

I looked, and it doesn't look like the video hook driver is working. Does anyone know if you can use a video hook driver with Vista?

Here is my situation. I have an ASP.NET web app hosted in IIS inside of a large corporate network in the U.S. The site uses the currently logged in user's windows name for security - so it looks at the user name and determines what they can and cannot do.

Now, the South-American based operation of my client wants to use this application as well. We do not want to have to set up a separate server for them, nor a separate codebase, and they are not worried about translation of the English site, as they all speak English.

They are all on a totally separate network, with their own logins and domains. There are no hard links between the two corporate networks other than the internet itself.

What is the best way to give them access to this internal ASP.NET app? Some users can get in via a VPN connection, but that is sort of a pain to set up for each user, plus it requires that they have a separate login for the U.S. domain.

Could this be accomplished by a permanent VPN between the networks and a trust between the domains?
