Working with BOA ( Barracuda / Octopus / Aegir ) , I've installed a few Drupal sites without any problems and following the same process for all.

BOA is running on Nginx. All sites are going thru Cloudflare's network , where I set the same DNS settings.

A example.com points to IPADDRESS A www points to IPADDRESS

the nameservers of each domain are pointing to Cloudflare's respective nameservers.

It all works , except for one site that works perfectly without "www" , but with "www" returns the typical database error if Drupal can't find the site's database.

Site off-line The site is currently not available due to technical problems. Please try again later. Thank you for your understanding.

In BOA, all sites have the same alias, basically a symlink, redirecting like this...

www.example.com -> example.com

I have installed memcache on a Dreamhost VPS (Debian GNU/Linux 5.0.9 (lenny) / memcached 1.4.10 ) for a Drupal site .

If for some reason the server needs rebooting, memcache is not restarted and Drupal spits out warnings about not being able to find memcache.

As mentioned in a previous question, I'm using the following script to start & configure memcache

 sudo /etc/init.d/memcached

• Is it possible to call that script whenever the server is rebooted, if yes how?
• In case, the above is not possible or fails, how and where could I tell Drupal to bypass memcache.

  if( memcache == null )
    bypass memcache

@Jon Thanks for the template but it's still above my current scripting level! Since I'm only running a single instance of memcache, here's what I have so far

It works fine, except that the script is not called after a server reboot! I need help to make this fit with the template structure. I have no idea about the stop or restart command...

I have installed memcache for a Drupal site with the memcached pecl extension. It's all running fine but I'm still struggling with the configuration settings.

For instance , following advice on drupal.org

You should probably lock down the memcache server so that it only listens for 
connections from the hosts that need to be served, as the default is that 
memcache listens to connections from all addresses. 
So, to close that hole, edit /etc/sysconfig/memcached with:

OPTIONS="-l ${HOSTIP}"

Problem is that I don't have this file on my server, in any case not at this location. Some other articles have mentioned /etc/memcached.conf but I can't find this file either.

Considering that the /etc/sysconfig/memcached or /etc/memcached.conf do not exit on my server, can I safely create them? Is it possible for these files to be situated somewhere else, in which case where should I look or is there any way to find that info?

Finally , any resources, tutorials or documentation links would be greatly appreciated. I've browsed thru memcache's site Wiki, and could only find a couple of relevant articles for beginners.

In order to try & improve load time , I'm thinking of creating a specific subdomain for the files folder in a Drupal site. Further improvement could be for instance to have that specific subdomain on a cloud...

I'm not really knowledgeable about servers and I have yet a lot to learn about HTTP Requests but the basic assumption is that a page would load faster if resources are split between servers.

For example if my homepage is displaying image.jpg, the following should load faster

       http://example.com
       http://files.example.com/image.jpg 

than this

       http://example.com
       http://example.com/image.jpg 

Since I'm developing with Drupal, I know I can change my files path in the Site Configuration. I haven't yet tried to enter an absolute URL in the File System Path field but I don't find this solution flexible because it would mean having the same path on my local development site.

The only solution I can think of is to create a symlink on my server, in which case I'm wondering whether it will actually achieve the expected results, namely the example above.

I'm not sure to be clear enough so don't hesitate to leave a comment if you need further clarification.

I've been trying to install the imap extension on my server by doing the following:

sudo apt-get install php5-imap
sudo /etc/init.d/httpd2 restart apache2-ps----

Everything seems to work fine, the extension has been installed, Apache has restarted. I even tried to re-install the extension and got a message that it was already installed and that nothing was updated.

Now , when I go to the Status Report of my Drupal installation, I still get the following message.

Mailhandler requires that PHP's IMAP extension is enabled 
in order to function properly.

After doing a lot of Googling, I'm still stuck...

• Is there a way to verify that the imap extension has been correctly installed?
• Do I need any further action in order to enable it?

Info from phpinfo(), suggests that IMAP is installed, therefore it may not be a server issue!
