In my new server, a sensor for the ACPI plugin reports 0 K (-273.15 C) as temperature. So, the graph is absolutely useless as this temperature (absolute zero, obviously wrong) makes all the other temps to look flat.
According the documentation it's possible to disable a field, by writing
thermal_zone2.graph no
in munin.conf, but it isn't working. How can i disable that graph? Or otherwise force the y axis minimum to 0° C
I am trying a VM of Windows Server Core on KVM on Linux. My problem is what looks like a bug of virt-manager, it can't send ctrl-alt-del when i press the button "send ctrl-alt-del", so I can't login anymore after the very first boot.
How could I disable CTRL+ALT+DEL on logon?

I never ran an ubuntu server, until recently, I needed a bigbluetutton VM, and, since installing on ubuntu it's easier (just add the repository), I installed it on that distro.
But, when I log on console, i get this:

So I do apt-get update and apt-get upgrade, but it says no packages to upgrade. How to update those 24 packages?

In Windows 2003 when i run plink without arguments, it says "unable to open connection: host does not exist"

I want to use an audio/video transcoding program on my server.
The solution that I found it's free and easy, so it fits my needs.
But... apparently that program needs an audio card to work. (I installed the user experience role for wmp and the windows audio service is running)
In fact when connected via RDP (audio streamed to the client), that program works perfectly.
So, since my server does not have an audio card, what I can do? There is a null audio driver for x64? If I install an driver for an hardware that I don't have, will it work?
PS: Virtual audio cable does not work.
Well, I am becoming crazy to let my email deliver to gmail/hotmail from my new ip. Last year, i had no problems with my past ip, but now my emails go straight to the spam folder of gmail and hotmail.
I checked with mxtoolbox.com and i am not blacklisted, not an open proxy, rdns is configured the right way, SPF policy is present on the DNS. My spf is v=spf1 a mx ~all
But, still, I am filtered.
So, I am wondering: since gmail does not accept my emails, it's possible to use gmail smtp server to deliver all mails from my server? AFAIK, it will change all the "from" address, but maybe there is a way to not let it happen?

we have an SBS2003 server. Recently I decided to switch to hmailserver as i feel it's better than exchange 2003, so i disabled it. Of course i don't receive the Monitoring and Reporting emails from my server anymore, there is a way to change the setting? I think it directly interacts with Exchange, but maybe there is an smtp option out there

I would like to search files in my lan easily. (over 500k files on SMB shares, it would take ages with other ways)

I have a spambot that likes to spam my websites. I mailed to abuse@isp, but he ignored me.
Attacks always come from the same ip, and i used IISIP to add the spammer IP to all of my websites.
I am wondering, since i am using a linux box with shorewall as a firewall... maybe is better to filter at that level?
Which one has better performance with a list that might grow and become huge? IIS giving a 403 page to the spammers, or shorewall dropping the connections?
For accessing Exchange from the WAN, like smartphones, and laptops, what ports I have to open? I googled, and I found an huge list of ports... i have to open all of them??

When i connect remotely to my xp-sp3 box, i get a BSOD on the remote host every times i try to access the shared folders i get a bsod on the remote host

As you know, Win Server 2003 allows 2 concurrent sessions of the same user at the same time I don't like this, I would like to revert to like it's handled in Windows XP, the connected user will be "kicked out"

On my desktop computer I have VirtualBox, and i can run a lot of concurrent VMs, up to near native speed.
On my server, that is twice as powerful than my desktop computer, I have debian+VMware server 1.0 (because I don't like the java bloat introduced with 2.0), and if I run a single VM, it runs up to near native speed. The real bottleneck is disk access speed: if I start TWO (yes, just 2!) VMs at the same time (read: when the server will turn on), the server will be paralyzed for 40 minutes! 40 minutes for booting 2 Windows VMs! Completely useless! I had better performance when I installed VirtualPC on a Celeron 400 Mhz!!!! If I search for "vmware slow hdd access", I get tons of results, so, I assume this is an huge VMware problem, right?
So I was thinking one of this actions:
Someone tried Proxmox? How better it is? Will it fix the bottleneck? I don't have another spare server to experiment with, so, if I wipe my server to play with proxmox, I will lose at least 2 working days...
At this moment, my server is a plain 64-bit amd, running windows 2003. I wanted to run another virtualized OS on top of it using virtualbox.
Then I saw that vmware ESXi is free! I always ignored that because I thought it would be extremely expensive.
So, now in my mind I have this vision of the "as-fast-as-native" virtualization

On our computers, we use daily dozens of different usb drives from our customers.
This is bad because the registry hive is becoming huge as windows is so "smart" to save them forever
I set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1 and i saw thousands of usb flash drives
There is a software that will automagically delete all previous devices?
Also this will solve a lot of problems with scanners and printers that will be seen as another device just because the user has plugged in another usb plug

On my windows server, I use analog to parse my log files and analyze them. The logs are daily and named as exYYMMDD.log How i can set in the analog cfg file to parse only one week of logs?
Someone tried the upgrade process from Windows 2003 x64 to Windows 2008 x64?
Usually, it would be better to never upgrade a Windows OS; but maybe, since this is a server OS, the upgrade path has been refined?
Reinstalling/reconfiguring would be really long with too long downtime; i'd prefer to avoid that path...
