On a normal block device you can change the i/o scheduler like this:
# cat /sys/block/hda/queue/scheduler
noop anticipatory deadline [cfq]
# echo anticipatory > /sys/block/hda/queue/scheduler
# cat /sys/block/hda/queue/scheduler
noop [anticipatory] deadline cfq
How can I control the setting for a NFS volume or do I just have to set it globally in the boot config with
elevator=noop
or similar?
We have a database called 'foo' on the first sql server instance called 'SQL01' that is backed up nightly via a snapshot with Snap Manager for SQL Server and then flex cloned and restored to a second server instance called 'SQL02'. In the database foo there is a sql user called 'someuser' that has datareader and stored procedure privileges.
After the restore operation I cannot access the foo database on SQL02 with the someuser user. I can see that the permissions appear to be set correctly for the user, but can't access the database. The error is "The server principal "someuser" is not able to access the database "foo" under the current security context."
If I remove the user from the database and then add them again it works fine. Any ideas?
My company is about to acquire another company; we run the LAMP stack, they run the Microsoft stack. We're not going to run duplicate infrastructures forever, we'll most likely move their stuff to LAMP. We're in the process of trying to determine the best course of action. These are both fairly mature and high traffic colocated sites, our team has no experience with MS stuff and their team has no experience with LAMP. Not trying to start a flame war over which technology is better so for the sake of argument, let's say we're going to migrate to LAMP.
Does anyone have experience migrating a large Microsoft based server infrastructure (MS Server, IIS, MSSQL, ASP.NET) to LAMP(Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP)?
How did it go? What were the pitfalls? Any info would be helpful.
About 3 months ago we switched to Google Apps from a terrible webmail application provided by our web host. We have since been told by a customer that he sent a cancellation email that we never received. Is there any way to determine if the message was ever received by Google and was subsequently deleted or if it never arrived in the first place? There is a debate over whether this message was in fact sent due to other events that have taken place.
I have a managed switch that handles the vlan config. VoIP phones run on one, everything else on another. I need to buy some off the shelf switches due to the difficulty of adding another drop in some locations of our office. How can I tell if an off the shelf dumb switch will work with the vlan setup?
