I am using Ubuntu 10.10

I want to change my VPS's default IP. My VPS comes with two IPs, but it always show the first IP 184.22.111.120 when I check with this page: http://www.lagado.com/proxy-test

But I want to use the second IP: 184.22.111.121

#vi /etc/network/interfaces outputs the following:

My registrar refused to provide DNS service anymore.

It only allows me to add my own NameServers like: ns1.myexample.com, ns2.myexample.com

I have bought a VPS and follow this tutorial:

What would the NameServers be? I mean, it can not be ns1.myexample.com, because ns1.myexample.com has not been resolved yet. so it must be something else.

I would like to do a 404 redirect with Apache, and I find several solutions:

1. The .htaccess method. But I don't want to add a .htaccess if not necessary.

2. virtual host method:

<VirtualHost *:80>
    ServerAlias *.example.com
    Redirect 404 /index.html
    ErrorDocument 404 /index.html
</VirtualHost>

I would like to know what's the difference Redirect 404 and ErrorDocument 404?

HI I am going to install MyBB but I am not sure whether I have installed the correct version of PHP and MySQL.

PHP version 5.1.0 or above with XML Extension installed

MySQL version 4.0 or above

How to check that? Especiall the PHP XML Extension?

Is there simpler way than the <?php phpinfo() ?> solution? I am expecting a command line solution.

I have been with cloudns.net for a few weeks now. Cloudns's UI is very good. Very convenient for newbies. And it has a url redirection ability: you can do a redirect: example.com to www.example.com.

However, cloudns is VERY unstable. Its name servers are always offline with no reason. And it is always upgrading its systems. My site lost a lot of traffic due to its so-called "maintenance".

I am looking for a RELIABLE DNS service with URL Forwarding ability. I want to do a 301 redirect: example.com -----> www.example.com.

UPDATE:

I am using Google App Engine not VPS, so Apache is not an option for me. Note that Google App Engine no longer supports naked domains.

I am with www.zoneedit.com for the time being. It has the web redirection ability I need.
