server based on Windows Server 2008 R2 Service pack 1 (x64) with installed .NET Framework 4.0 does not apply patch KB2416472 which is approved in WSUS.

Looking at the report in WSUS for this server I see the following entry for this patch:

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2 for x64-based Systems (KB2416472)

I believe the Not Applicable is the problem - it might have to do with that line saying nothing about SP1. However MS10-070 states that the patch is applicable also for Windows Server 2008 R2 for x64-based Systems Service Pack 1

I've checked the windowsupdate.log file on the machine and there are no references to KB2416472.

Update 2: Patch installs manually without problems.

Any ideas?

How do you find out how satisfied are users with your IT support?

Surely from time to time they tell you: this and that doesn't work, that was good and you talk with users daily, etc. But do you run like an annual survey or something similar?

How do you get feedback from users to improve yourself and get the job done even better?

Is this true or just a trick used by hardware salesmen?

I would like to make a backup solution to be a computer with a single external USB hard drive from which the (1) system boots and (2) stores backups. So in case of any problems with the box, we just move the external hard drive to another box and we have full access to data and backup works again.

The problem I am running to, is that the box is capable of booting from USB, I've verified this on a small 80G USB hard drive. But when I plug in the 1,5TB hard drive it ignores it, and does not see. Sometimes it even freezes on BIOS screen (where RAM and CPU info are displayed)

More info:

1. If I boot from internal HD (I don't want it in final configuration), the USB disk works ok.

2. I have installed Linux on the first partition (which is 3GB big) of the USB HD, so there shouldn't be problems with to big partitions for BIOS or?

3. Newer BIOS updates (dated 2005) don't seem to remove any USB related issues, so I haven't yet performed any BIOS updates. Motherboard is Intel D865PCD.

Where else could I dig into?
