I have recently installed Xenserver 6.5 onto a local development server for testing. I wanted to active using the free license from Citrix but seem unable to.

When I navigate to the License Manager dialog, I can see the "Active Free XenServer" button.

But when I select the dev-xenserver-01 the "Active Free License" box disappears.

Does anyone know why this is happening, I assume you can active a free license for a 2 socket machine, I've seen mentions of a free trail. Am I still in that period and need to wait?

httpd fails to start on one of my servers running centos 7 because /run/httpd is missing, which means httpd can't create /run/httpd/httpd.pid and thus fails to start.

My question is, why is /run/httpd being deleted. I am not deleting the dir.

Running httpd-2.4.6-18.el7.centos.x86_64 from base CentOS repo

So I am currently gathering information in regards to renaming our AD domain name from company.net to company.local.

I am reading through the docs on technet.microsoft.com and It states that I would need to prepare the new DNS zones before executing the domain rename.

The question I am asking about is regarding the _msdcs subdomain

_msdcs.company.net

I have read posts of forums where people reported issues after renaming their domain and not having the _msdcs subdomain forward lookup zone. Some even reported that an _msdcs subdomain is created but inside

Obvisouly _msdcs is needed So should I create two forward lookup zones like so;

_msdcs.company.local company.local

When the domain name rename has been executed and the DC are restarting will they auto generate all the relevent _msdcs records in the new forward lookup zone _msdcs.company.local or will I have to create them myself.

How can I allow a normal user on Ubuntu to run php scripts?

sudo php /path/to/script/script.php

Basically the script needs to be run as root but the users does not have root privileges on their machines.

I have seen articles that indicate that you need to add php to the sudoers file?

I have setup a CentOS 6.3 box to collect logs from a few devices, I have log rotation setup for each host. Basically It rotates the log file by Year, Month, Day and the Host.

Everything works great except it seems the Rsyslog daemon creates the files/folders with root:root owner & group. I then can't navigate into the day folder e.g 06, 07, 08 without changing the permissions first.

I can navigate with root of course but this isn't ideal.

Is there a way to get the Rsyslog Daemon to create the folders with a specific group (sysadmin) that my user is apart of.

I would like to forward Windows Events Logs from all my desktop clients to a Linux box with rsyslog on.

Rsyslog provide a Windows agent to do just that but its 40 euros per license and when you have x amount of machines that cost adds up.

I was wondering if there is a FOSS alternative available I have tried searching the Google but haven't managed to find anything.

Hopefully someone might already faced this same problem and are using an alternative that they could recommend.

Basically I have Nagios receiving status updates from workstations in my LAN, I have a simple .vbs script run on the workstation which gets the file version number from certain .exe's then send that to Nagios so I can see the file version within Nagios of Software like Skype,Firefox,Thunderbird,Java,Adobe.

They are static as they are always set to green but that Is not the problem.

If i check the status update it says "OK" but if I check the status updates in a terminal window using tail -f on /var/log/messages I can see the program version number fine. So why is the web interface only showing "OK"

When using NSCE and the same scripts I have no issue, so it has to be something do with NSCA.

Any ideas? I have provided some images to make it easier.

I am using CentOS 5.8 x64bit

I have all my users directories in the /home/ directory, the drive which CentOS is installed along with /home is on

/dev/mapper/VolGroup01-LogVol00

And its getting full I have 12% left. I predict that it will be full within 2 months. So what I was thinking was adding 1TB drive to the server and then remounting /home onto the new drive e.g

/dev/sdd1       917G   1G      916G   1%   /home

But I'm running into a few snags here.

Do you think I will have to copy all the users folders onto the new drive before I edit the mount point in fstab?

So the process might resemble this;

1. Format/Partition New drive
2. Mount drive under temp folder /tempfolder
3. Copy contents of /home to /tempfolder
4. Edit Mount to location of /home instead of /tempfolder

How can I view the dhcpd.leases without having to SSH into the box and view using vi/nano etc.

I used to have webadmin set up on another box but that was when I used the GUI to configure dhcp.

Now I have configured it myself through the terminal and don't want to use webadmin. and viewing the dhcpd.leases file in the web browser was very nifty!

Any software/scripts that automatically export the leases file into a web page that i can view using apache on the server?
