I have a question similar to this one, but without the VLAN complications. How can(?) I configure FreeRadius 1.x to allow any combination of username/password for one realm only?

If FreeRadius 1.x does not provide this ability, does the 2.x line do so? Does some other RADIUS server have this ability? If so, I could configure this realm to proxy to the ..more tolerant... RADIUS server.

All,

I'm not even sure where to begin looking for resources to answer my question, and I realize that speculation about this kind of thing is highly subjective.

I need help determining what class of server I should purchase to host a MS Silverlight application with a MSSQL server back-end on a Windows Server 2008 platform. It's an interactive program, so I can't simply generate a list of URLs to test against, and run it with 1000 simultaneous users.

What tools are out there to help me determine what kind of load the application will put on a server at varying levels of concurrent users?

Would you all suggest separating the SQL server form the web server, to better differentiate the generated load on the different parts of the stack?

I administrate a Windows Server 2003 (Standard Edition, 32-bit) installation running Apache2 and ColdFusion. The server has over 100 virtual hosts, each with an access log and an error log. I've been looking for an analog to (or a win32 port of) the classic Linux logrotate command, which allows logfile rotation without interrupting Apache's locking mechanism.

Every solution I've found, including chomp, the conflictingly named logrotate bash script, apachelogrot, and several Perl log rotation scripts; they all:

  • stop apache
  • rotate the log
  • start apache

Obviously, this is not desirable with so many virtual hosts, as it would stop and restart Apache hundreds of times per night.

I have also investigated using rotatelogs, which comes with apache, and cronolog, which use piped output to create individual daily/weekly/monthly logs. These programs do not require a restart of apache to rotate the logs, but they spawn an instance of the process for each logfile, resulting in hundreds of additional daemons running, each consuming 200-300k of memory.

I also tried compiling the classic Linux logrotate command on cygwin, but with no luck.

Do any of you have suggestions about what I should try next? Or, even better, have any of you managed to get the classic Linux logrotate command to compile on cygwin, or any other win32 compiler?

We have an unattended kiosk at a local sports arena that currently runs a hardened Linux distribution from a CD-ROM ISO. The project that produced the distribution is no longer active -- in fact, it disappeared from the internet.

What I'm looking for is a Linux kiosk distribution which:

  1. Boots from CD (no hard drive installation)
  2. Only runs a web browser
  3. Restarts the web browser automatically when closed (or after a time-out period)
  4. Does not allow any keyboard shortcuts (to open a terminal, etc...)
  5. Can survive the Kiosk Attack Tools (http://ikat.ha.cked.net)

I know that there are lots of Google results for this sort of thing, and if I had the time, I would follow one of the myriad guides to "roll my own"... but I just don't have the time.

Can any of you recommend a distribution that you have personally used to fulfill this need?
