I've installed ffmpeg and and ffmpeg-php so many before and it worked, today i'm having an error

when i run make or make install, i get this error

make: *** [ffmpeg_frame.lo] Error 1

i tried these solutions [1] [2] and won't fix it (at least for me), here's how i install ffmpeg, i follow the first method because this post is 4 years old so many links have changed, and i don't have time to see the correct links, but this is an excellent article.

i have centos 5.4 and php 5.1.6 (yes i might update it, but if you have seen my recent post here you know that i had many problems running the newest version, well at least this version is running perfectly and apache 2.2.3 is running perfectly, i don't want to update them right now because i don't want to have troubles and then come here and ask about it)

I've done it before with my friend, I hosted a radio for a website on another vps that he owns. well but here is a different problem. that one was easy since all we did is created a separate page and the radio streamed on that page.

I have bought 2 vps this month, one has expired and the other one will expire very soon.

I want to install phpmotion I need about 700 mb of ram just for the php apache and ffmpeg and these things, i need to install sendmail to send confirmation email and it's easier to install and configure using webmin...

so about 700mb just for the setup and stuff, I need about 50 gb disk space, the bandwidth is not an issue

I had 1 vps from 2host vps e-class but didn't like it, chvps is good, so i wounder if i can get 2 or maybe 3 or even 4 vps for around 4$ each so the total will be about 12$ (cirrus 1 package) install the settings on 1 vps (webmin, sendmail...) and then the 2nd vps will be for ffmpeg conversion and the 3rd and 4th for the site to load? and the videos would be stored on all the vps after being converted, then I'll have 80 gb of disk space and good ram, for less money than 2host, would this work? if yes how?

i have centos 5...php 5.3.8 and apache 2.2.21...I had this problem now i have another problem... first of all i see apache test page even though my script is still there ( but that problem i can fix), but apache is not working, if you go to showpill.com/hi.php you can see that apache is not working

I uploaded a script called phpmotion to my vps, see this when you go to pretty much any page you'll see this error

the .htaccess that they provide is there, everything is uploaded and installed correctly. the support team says that mod_rewrite is not enabled, but I checked and it is it enabled.

they told me to register on their forum to ask about it, I tried but it says: registration is currently disabled. Therefore I'm asking here, what would cause this problem?

LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so 

is not commented out, i changed AllowOverride to All created a .htaccess file as you said and still did not work

I know that my php.ini is located at /etc/php.ini but when i run php -i|grep php.ini I get this output

Configuration File (php.ini) Path => /usr/local/lib

there's nothing in that directory and i know where my php.ini is located, so why am i getting this output?

I have followed this tutorial and this one, I have downloaded the proper version and still cannot get phpmotion to detect it. Before i contact the support team for help, I just want to know if there's a third way to install phpshield loaders

have a centos 5.5 64 bit xen vps. I have a php script that automatically sends confirmation emails for people who sign up, it's not sending it right now, I've been told to install webmin, and then install sendmail or postfix and configure it to send emails

I installed webmin, installed sendmail, and now what? if you know how to configure postfix then I'll unintall sendmail and install postfix.

I just want to send emails automatically, the confirmation mail, the welcome email and the goodbye email, and the reset password email, the email that i want to use is [email protected]

I do not want to have an inbox i can use google apps email service to do so, just want to send automated emails

I can do it via ssh, without webmin, just wanna know how, any tutorial or explanation would be so appreciated.

if you know how to configure another software similar to posftix and sendmail, I have no problem using it rather than using those 2. Basically I don't care what email server I use, as long as the job gets done

I have 4 emails for my domain created using google apps I can send emails from them but cannot receive, I have a centos vps, no cpanel, no mail server.

How to configure bind so I can receive mails?

My hosting provider does not offer a free backup and I'm not going to pay for it.

I have 2 centos 5 64 bit vps, I'm working on 1 of them, I'm not using the 2nd one. I don't have a cpanel nor ftp.

I would like to know how to backup everything on the 2nd vps that I don't use

I don't know what I have done, really yesterday everything seems to be working as I wanted but it seems that there's something going on, I cannot no longer login to mysql and I haven't not forgot the password, I have created another user yesterday called example1 gave him all the privileges, by mistake I think I deleted the root user but everything was working yesterday, I could login with example1

today it's a different story, I deleted a big table this morning and from there everything is going wrong!

I'm not able to login to my mysql using any method, I uninstalled mysql

yum remove mysql
yum remove mysql-server
yum remove mysql-libs 

and reinstalled it

yum install mysql mysql-server mysql-devel 

the problem is still there, so reinstalling it didn't work I have to fix the problem

what's the problem?

I just wanted to tell you guys that i did reinstall it before i ask the question so you don't suggest that i reinstall it lol and I'm not ready to reinstall the OS because there are too many things there

and now the problem, I'm not sure what it is exactly otherwise I'd fix it myself, so I'm having the same problem as this guy but I tried every solution suggested and none works

you know most of the time it says

Access denied for user 'root'@'x.x.x.x' (using password: NO) and if i try to connect to the db it says YES, can i reset everything and start over?

for example I'm following this tutorial, it says: Append following two config directive to setup ftp port ranges:

pasv_min_port=49152
pasv_max_port=65535

but i cannot find the ports to append them and i don't want to open port 21, I want to open a port like 538, I know how but I can't fix the first problem

the configuration is not working, I'm looking for an easier to install and configure alternative, do you know any?

mysql does not exist anymore but when i run yum remove mysql it says that the package is available but not marked for installation, i cannot install new mysql because of that, I need to completely delete everything related to it before installing new one, i do not have tables created so don't need to backup anything i tried to use the yum plugin yum-remove-with-leaves didn't work and didn't find any guide to install it properly, anyway i read on forums that it's buggy and should not be installed so I'm searching for other ways to remove mysql completely

and can i do it using sftp?

I tried

yum remove mysql
yum remove mysql-server
yum clean all

and it doesn't seem to fix it.

When I run yum install mysql mysql-server or yum install mysql or yum install install mysql-server i would get this

How to save and exit crontab -e?

i tried every method listed here and none works, i have a centos 5, vi comes by default with yum and i installed nano

just changed the default editor

export EDITOR=nano

and now i can do what I do using nano :) thanks everyone and yes i should learn Vi.. someday!!!

My friend and I have two identical CentOS 5 VPSs from the same hosting provider, his using Apache and mine using Nginx. He followed this tutorial and vsftpd worked. He tried to install vsftpd on my VPS using the same procedure and it did not work.

Does vsftpd requires Apache to work?

I want an alternative for apache, lighthttpd has memory leaks problems so i can't go for it, i keep reading that nginx is good for static content but is it good for php-mysql dynamic video sharing content?

I have read also that a good option is to run apache and nginx together for dynamic content, but i don't want to use apache at all - apache uses so much ram, that's why i want to use nginx in the first place!

and my last question, is lighthttpd still suffering from memory leaks problems or did they fix it, because I would love to use that, I read somewhere that youtube uses it, and my site is so similar to youtube (not the same though, but if it's good enough for youtube, it's good enough for me)
