I'm getting spammed the following error on boot:

LibClamAC Error: mpool_malloc(): Attempt to allocate 8388608 bytes. Please report to http://bugs.clamav.net

I read that I will need to update... but the problem is this is happening on boot and I keep getting spammed by this error and fills the screen and I can't access the shell.

Anyone know how I can access the shell to update his?

I'm running ubuntu 12.04

I am not sure where to ask this question but I'll ask here first.

I've got a Synology DS211 server and I am trying to run cron jobs but it is not working.

This is the code I got in the crontab file

10 19 4 * * root /opt/bin/openssh-scp user@remote-server:/home/user/Backup/backup.tar.gz /volume1/Backup/

However it is not running.

I am able to run commands with /opt/bin/openssh-scp directly, but not with cron

Is there anything I am doing wrong?

I have a Dell Poweredge T310 with the default (free) NIC. I've got Ubuntu server 11.10 installed and I am running into a problem where at times I cannot connect to the server through any port. Whether it's an ssh or http request it would just timeout. (Connecting externally)

I used YouGetSignal to check whether the ports are open and they are closed.

However after 5 minutes or so of attempting I would be able to connect again.

I am quite new to networking and I am not sure where I should start looking at for diagnosing.

I don't believe it is a router problem since I can connect to the other devices connected to the network. I also do not have any power management software with the Ubuntu.

I am trying to force ssl redirect, but my domain has a port like so domain.com:8888

The following doesn't seem to be working, now I am not even able to access the site if I add the rewrite

    listen 8888;
    server_name sy-system.net;
    rewrite     ^   https://$server_name:8888$request_uri? permanent; 

    ssl on;

So I've got my site setup with nginx and gunicorn.

However I'm not using port 80 for the site, instead I'm using port 8888. Is it possible to tell the domain name to use port 8888 instead of 80 when connecting through mydomain.net?

Currently I will have to connect with mydomain.net:8888. Can this be done with nginx if it cannot be done on the domain name side?

Heads up I'm a noob with linux and networking.

I set up a ubuntu server and I have a static ip for my network. When I try to connect to the server at home (external), it prompts me to log in. I supply the correct password (or incorrect pw), I get the error Permission denied, please try again.

and after 3 times I get

Permission denied (publickey,gssapi-with-mic,password)

I am however able to connect with SSH from another computer in the same network with ssh < internal ip of server >

I'm connecting with mac os x and my config file is vanilla.

Note: During installation of ubuntu it says I don't have a default route or something while doing auto network configuration, but I ignored it and continued the installation, could this be the problem?

EDIT:

I have tried the below, I have nothing in hosts.allow and also iptables shows the ports that I have allowed, which is 22.

I checked the auth.log, and there is nothing when I connect to it remotely (even when it says permission denied). I have tried connecting to it internally and the correct authentication logs show. Any idea whats wrong?
