I want to configure Reporting Services 2008 to use a custom defined username and password for access. I read that I must set reporting services to do basic authentication :

But I didn't find specified a location where I might create usernames and passwords.
I need to decrypt a column in a table that has previously been encrypted at application level.
The algorithm is DES at 192 bits and block size = 64.
I have the password but DecryptByPassPhrase doesn't seem to work.
I've seen tutorials articles and posts on how to build datawarehouses with star and snowflakes schemas, denormalization of OLTP databases fact and dimension tables and so on.
Also seen comments like:
Star schemas are for datamarts, at best. There is absolutely no way a true enterprise data warehouse could be represented in a star schema, or snowflake either.
I want to create a database that will server for reporting services and maybe (if that isn't enough) install analisys services and extract reports and data from cubes.
My question was : Is it really necesarry to redesign my current database and follow the star/snowflake schemas with fact and dimension tables ?

I want to export a varchar(max) column (SQL 2005) to an xml UTF 8 using BCP out to a file. I tryed using the -w option for BCP but so far it encodes my special characters in strings like –
Is there's an option to skip the special characters because I don't want any & or # in my final xml ?
Reporting services on my site always asks for username and password. I want to set it as domain users are never asked for username / password so I'll have a single-sign on. The Reports Application in IIS is set to have Windows Authentication.

I'm currently importing a table from MYSQL to MSSQL. There's a column there for storing date, only it's stored as an number. When i import it to MSSQL i get it in as an int data type.
When i try to convert that to datetime I get an :
Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type datetime.
Since i'm using MSSQL 2005 I can't use datetime2 and fit it so it does not overflow.
Is there a way to trim that date stored as an int so it does not overflow the datetime format ?

I/O error (torn page) detected during read at offset 0x0000024afe4000 in file for a user database. Using the first googled method, i set the database from master..sysdatabases from status 280 to status 24 but i still can't access it to run a DBCC CHECKDB.

I have a weird problem. I enabled AWE on a Sql 2000 sitting on a Windows 2003 server. The server has 20 gigs of memory but when i enable AWE sql process is showing as having only 128 MB. From perfmon however looks like a bit part of memory is being allocated to a process (i think it's SQL).
However SQL runs slower with AWE then without it. Has anyone got any ideea ?
I have to move a MYSQL Database to MSSQL. I'd like to know if there's a tool that could automate this process a bit, at least for the tables and views.

Could anyone tell me what the (+) after the column means ? (is it sort of a sum ?)
I've recently installed SSMA and after connecting to both the Oracle instance (which holds the database to be converted) and the SQL Server I've mapped the necessary schemas from Oracle to MSSQL. The problem is that when I click on the report button for the assessment report there's an error popping up:
Assesment Error : Nothing to Process
The output window states:
Starting conversion... Analyzing metadata... Conversion finished with
0 errors, 0 warnings, and 0 informational messages. There is nothing
to process.
Does anyone who has experience with SSMA have any idea about this error? I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.
I've recently received the dump file of the soon to be migrated Oracle Database. I've installed Oracle 10g and now I need to restore the original database.
Can anyone give me a step by step procedure for how to restore it from the *.dmp file ?
