If a sql server is allowed to be accessed from any outside IP, and if windows event logs numerous (wrong) login attempts from unauthorized ip addresses/uses, does it influence sql server performance?

For example I detected approx 100 login tries during a period of one second, and I really want to know does it influence performance (and how), before I whitelist Ip addresses allowed to access sql server.

I want to deploy multiple asp.net mvc applications under a single domain, but I am not sure what is the proper way to do it in IIS.

I want them to have the following urls

www.domain.com/something-from-app1
www.domain.com/something-from-app2

There are couple of options that I had in mind, but not sure would they actually work in practice.

Deploy each app as a subdomain and then do a rewrite

app1.domain.com/something to www.domain.com/something-from-app1
app2.domain.com/something to www.domain.com/something-from-app2

Deploy each app under a virtual folder of a domain and then do a rewrite

www.domain.com/site/app1/something to www.domain.com/something-from-app1
www.domain.com/site/app2/something to www.domain.com/something-from-app2

Both options are just pure theory, and I would like to know will both scenarios work as I explained abovre?

We have a problem when sending emails to "gmail.com" domain. All of our emails end up in spam folder.

We do not send spam or bulk emails, so I would like to know is there a way to solve this issue.

I have browsed some topics and it appears we are not blacklisted, but the problem is in spam filtering.

I am interested how to grow a RAID 10 array on Windows SBS 2011 machine? Basically I have added two additional disks, expanded array and now I want to grow my c: filesystem to take advantage of new space?

It is hardware RAID, Controller is Smart Array P410i 512Mb on HP server. The move was from RAID1 (2 disks, 300Gb) to RAID10 (4disks, 600Gb)

I have two HP disks in RAID 1 (300 Gb), and would like to at 2 additional disks in RAID 1+0 having in total of 600 Gb on C:.

I would like to know is it possible to do it using Array Configuration Utility without loosing and data?

I have an SBS 2011 server in an office running a domain and I want to add an additional server running SBS 2003 that would only be used to run and serve accounting software.

I have learned that two SBS servers cannot co-exist on the same network. Despite this, I would like to find a way to make this work.

I was advised to shut down all services on the SBS 2003 server, but I would like to get more opinions before implementing a solution.

How to find a compatible disk for HP server? I own HP ML350 G6 server.

I have found a spare parts list, but since there is no disk of size 300 GB 2.5 10K 6G (originally installed on server) I am confused. There are also spare part numbers which do not really match with any MFG# on the market.

I would need some help with this, since I would like to get a disk that is available on market that is also compatible with ML350G6.

Really do not know where to look, is there a utility tool that can help me find this information, or is there a sign on the hardware?

I currently have HP ML350 G6 with 2x300 GB raid disks.

Server main purpose is: - Exchange server - Office network (25 users) - File storage

Now one problem is that one department has a need of archiving files (lets say it is an active archive which is used on a daily basis).

I was checking disk prices and trying to figure out a proper solution for this. This is what I came up with...

• Any disk has to be setup in raid to protect from data loss
• I need at least 2x750 GB (raid)
• Since I plan to leave Exchange and system files on original server disks, are there any other alternatives for file storage in this configuration instead of adding additional disks.

What about diskstation or some other external storage solutions? Do I need to pay attention for 7.2 or 10 K disks when used for file storage (speed issue?)

I adjusted Windows Firewall to prevent access to MSSQL outside server IP, but that did not work.

Here is what I did Firewall > Programs and Service > cheched MSSQL Firewall > Edit > Name:MSSQL, PortNumber 1433, TCP, scope: serverIP/255.255.255.255

How to add a scheduled task that should run every x-minutes on Windows Server 2003 R2.

I have followed many suggestion from the web, but I always end up with some interruption after 1 or 2 runs.

Here is what I did:

1. New Scheduled Task

2. Schedule > Daily Task 08:00 AM, every 1 day

3. Schedule > Advanced > Repeat task every 30 minutes, duration 31 minutes (why???)

4. Enabled it

Not working after 1 run and the next run time is +1 day at 08:00 AM

How to fix this problem?

I have a SBS 2003 server running for 3 year without any problems, and few days ago it freezes during the boot.

System is using two 500 Gb drives in RAID1 (Intel Matrix 7.5)

After trying to load in safe mode, boot stops on acpitabl.dat.

First idea was that there is a problem with RAID although disk status was OK, and RAID status was Rebuild. I tried to boot with each drive, and one gives me the same problem, and the other drive is failing to load.

Took both drives out, and checked it on a different machine. One drive is dead, other is without any problems.

Returned the good drive back in SBS 2003 with changed status to Degraded, but the problem is still the same.

I also have a clean SBS 2003 copy installed on this drive (previous installation), which loads smooth and quick.

So, I believe the main problem is this installed version of SBS 2003. Did not make any hardware changes, did not make any updates (not sure about any automatic windows updates lately).

Since there are tons posts about this problem, and no clear solution, I am trying to figure how to repair SBS 2003 installation, since there are some installed programs on this installation which I cannot re-install without additional issues.

Is it possible to create an on-server rule to distribute/forward incoming email to certain mailboxes based on sender's email address.

I do not want to do a client forwarding. I would like to to it on server in Exchange 2010.

I have problems sending emails outside organization using OWA (Exchange 2010 installed on SBS 2010, domain is domain.local, local DNS). Web-server and email server are hosted remotely, I am using pop connector to grab emails to Exchange 2010.

I have created two send connector, one that handles internal emails and one for external email. The problem is connector for emails over internet, which is configured like:

Addres Space SMTP, *, 1

Network Route email throught the following route host Smart host authentication: Basic authentication over TLS + username, password

If I don't use smart host I get the following error 451 4.4.0 Primary target IP address responded with: “454 4.7.5 Certificate validation failure.”

If I use smart host when using OWA outside of organization (different ISP), message gets stucked in a queue without being sent.

What am I doing wrong when configuring send connector?

I am wondering why do I receive the following message for some email attempts

How to configure outgoing mail in SBS 2011? I am using Thunderbird to open more then one IMAP mailbox, but when I want to send mails it appears that relay is not supported. If I configure one username for all outgoing mails, only mails send from that particular user will go through.

How can I configure smtp-relay for SBS 2011? Or is there a better solution to send emails from client?

When I add new mailbox to Exchange 2010 (SBS 2011), for some reason default folders are in localized language, instead of English. Funny thing is that when we add mailboxes by adding a new user, folders are in English as they should be.

How to get default folders in English (in the first place), and how to rename or update these current folders? Is there a catch to do this from EMS?

Where can I add and configure a login script for each user in SBS 2011?

For example, I to map a drive for a user-specific folder. I do not want to use folder redirection.

I want to restore a .bkf file created on SBS 2003, to a SBS 2011. I have downloaded and instaled restore utility, but I am getting this error

Unable to write data to c:\foldername This security id may not be assigned as the owner of this object

This is not happening to all files and directories, and I would like to know how to solve this problem? I have added user as as member of Backup Operators , but that did not solve the problem.

We have a SBS 2003 installed in our office. Basically we have created 5 accounts, user1, user2, user3, user4 and user5 with coresponding exchange Exchange accounts.

Now we would like to have customized (client-friendly) Exchange accounts for different departments such as customerservice, accounting. What I have learned is that we could create distribution list which would actually take care of this problem.

But what about when we want to reply to our clients from lets say [email protected] instead of [email protected]? I think that would not be possible using the distribution list, so the only option is to create new accounts and mailboxes for customerservice, accounting etc.

So does it mean that we would have to create in this case 7 accounts and 7 exchange mailboxes? Would 5 licences be enough for this to work, or we need to purchase additional 2 licences so we dont reach any restrictions?
